A traditional school with a contemporary heart

A Dinner for Scott 2024

On Saturday 10 August 2024 we paid tribute to the late Southland Boys' High School catering teacher, Scott Richardson.

'A Dinner for Scott' is not only a fundraising event for the memorial scholarship, but an event for culinary students in Southland to gain knowledge, hands on experience and share their amazing ideas.

It is an honour to be part of this dinner every year. Head chefs throughout New Zealand and Australia come to Southland to cook in honour of Scott Richardson, passing on their knowledge to the next generation of aspiring chefs.

We would like to thank Alex Winslade, Zarien Ward, Eugene Joubert, Blake Witbrock, Gabriel McKay-Smith, Rico Soper, Kaden Skeggs and Gerome Steininger who spent Friday and Saturday preparing and cooking the canapés for the 150 guests, and to the Year 12 and 13 students who were waiters on the night.

This year Zarien and Eugene were lucky enough to work with Long Prawn from Melbourne for the week, helping to create the pre-dessert and come up with creative ways to present the dish. Long Prawn are an artistic food company that combine beautiful food and creative events.

We would like to thank Ethan Flack and Lee Richardson for creating such a meaningful event.
