Southern Football League Champions

Our 1st XI are the Southland Football College League champions!

On Wednesday 21 August the Southland Boys' High School senior football team secured the Southland Football College League with a 4 - 1 win over Maruawai College.

This competition has been running over terms two and three, with 8 teams from Invercargill, Lumsden and Gore. Having not competed in this competition for the last few years, the wider 1st XI squad decided to commit to this competition in order to prepare for the Linwood Trophy tournament in September.

Using 25 players in this league, we were able to give all our senior boys valuable game time and experience at this level, which helped the coaching staff look at these players in a competitive setting. Players that stood out during these games include Zac Owen-Gear and Lars Meehan.

To be able to win this competition without fielding our strongest 11 at any point, shows the depth in skill level of all senior players involved.

With one trophy now locked in the cabinet, the focus now turns to the quest for a second trophy at the Linwood Tournament in September.
